Hero Award
Friends of Old Woman Creek
Hero Award
The Friends of Old Woman Creek Hero Award was established in 2012 to honor those groups and/or individuals who have made significant contributions to the preservation of the ecology of the Old Woman Creek estuary, watershed, nature preserve, and research reserve. The vision of Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve is to integrate research and education for the conservation of Great Lakes coastal ecosystems.
We invite nominations for the next Friends of Old Woman Creek Hero Award all year (see below) but close out nominations on December 31st each year. The Hero Award is presented at our Members Annual Meeting in late February.
The Nominee for the Hero Award must have shown evidence of having made an exceptional contribution to sustaining the vision of Old Woman Creek. Previous recipients include Dr. David Klarer, Bill Pifer, Gene Wright, Linda Feix, the Glen Bernhardt family, Dr. Ken Krieger, Elaine Waterfield, Rudy & Joli Reising, Sue Cloak, Sandy Burris, and Breann Hohman.
