2026 Photo Contest Deadline Extended to September 7

Friends of Old Woman Creek recently discovered a typo in the email address listed on our Photo Contest webpage. The error has been corrected, and to ensure all participants have a fair opportunity to submit their entries, we are extending the deadline for the 2026 Friends of Old Woman Creek Photo Contest to 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026.
If you have already submitted your photographs, please check your Sent folder to confirm that your entry was sent to:

If your submission was sent to the incorrect address, please resend your entry to info@friendsowc.org before the new deadline.

New Photo Contest Deadline:
Monday, September 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

The Friends of Old Woman Creek has some good news for photographers.  Instead of our usual photo contest, we are looking for photos that can be used for postcards to sell in the Nature Shop.

Subjects can include animals, beach, trees, flowers, buildings, people – anything that shows the character of the estuary.  OWC staff will judge the contest. Winners will receive a one-year membership to the Friends of OWC as well as a cash prize of $30.

THE RULES:

Photos must have been taken at Old Woman Creek Reserve in Huron. That includes the trails, visitor center, the beach or from kayaks or canoes. No photos will be accepted if taken off trail.

  1. Email the photos, as a jpg file, in landscape format to info@friendsowc.org
  2. Entries are limited to TWO (2) per photographer.
  3. The email must include your name, address and phone number and a sentence about what the photo shows or a title.  
  4. Photos using AI (Artificial Intelligence) are not allowed.
  5. Minimal photo editing is allowed (cropping, sharpening, lightening).
  6. If people are in the photo, get written permission to photograph them.
  7. Winning photos will be displayed on our website, friendsowc.org 
  8. Deadline is Sunday, August 30, 2026.

You retain all legal rights to your photo. By entering, you give the Friends of OWC permission to use your photo on our website, social media platforms, and other digital and printed materials. Credit to the photographer will always be given.
