At 1pm, June 30, John Blakeman will lead a car caravan of visitors through the wild, natural areas of NASA’s Neil Armstrong Test Facility (ATF, formerly Plum Brook Station). This 10 square-mile aerospace testing facility includes a diversity of wild habitats, including rare tallgrass prairies and native oak forests. Mr. Blakeman is an Environmental Specialist at the ATF and in this 2.5-hour car tour, he will stop the caravan and interestingly explain the unique habitats and wildlife that will be seen, including both the natural and human history of the site. Lots of deer and wild turkeys are usually seen.

This rare visit is being arranged by special invitation to the Friends of Old Woman Creek. U.S. citizens are invited to register and attend, without cost.  To be included on this guided tour of the wild areas of the ATF, you must be registered with NASA. John Blakeman will do the registration. Email to him, at j2blakeman@gmail.com, your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. He will then confirm your registration and will provide further information on where to meet (at the ATF entrance on Scheid Rd in Sandusky). Visitors (adults 18 years or older) must present at the gate a government-issued photo identification document, such as a driver’s license or passport.
